The BFG is a 2016 American fantasy adventure film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg, from a screenplay by Melissa Mathison, and based on the novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film stars Mark Rylance in the title role, an elderly giant who kidnaps the orphan Sophie, played by Ruby Barnhill, as to accompany his loneliness and to help him on a mission in Giant Country. Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall and Bill Hader are featured in supporting performances.
